Orphans & Widows

Description
Orphans are among the most vulnerable members of society.
In developing nations where children may already suffer the effects of war, poverty, and natural disaster, losing one or both parents is often synonymous with losing their lifeline.
These orphans are left to fend for themselves - sometimes from a very young age - and are susceptible to hunger, disease and exploitation. Their access to education is limited, their security threatened, and their futures bleak. Not to mention the severe grief and trauma that they will burden for the rest of their lives.
Al-Khair Foundation believes that it is our collective duty to care for these children, wherever in the world they may be. Through our longstanding sponsorship programme, donors can provide an orphan with all the basic necessities of life: food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education.
On top of this, what sets us apart from other sponsorship programmes is that we value the emotional, mental and psychological wellbeing of the orphan as well. Al-Khair Foundation understands that the loss of one or both parents can be extremely destabilising for a child. As such, we offer individualised psychosocial support and counselling.
When you sponsor an orphan through Al-Khair Foundation, you can rest assured that they are being given holistic care to secure a brighter future.
Widows
In many societies across the world the male is often the breadwinner and is responsible for providing for his family. However, when he passes away the family are often left in an extremely vulnerable position and often face real hardship.
Your donations allow widows to live with independence and allow them to have hope for the future. Al-Khair Foundation provide sponsorship for widows and their families and also livelihood programmes which enable widows to gain the skills needed to earn for themselves and ultimately restore hope for a better future.
