SREIslamic was established in October 2008 in response to the Labour government’s intention to make Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) statutory in schools. Whilst the proposal floundered due to the 2010 election, it was the Conservative government that finally made Relationships Education statutory.

To date, SREIslamic have run hundreds of seminars and workshops and supported tens of thousands of parents concerned with how SRE (Sex Education and Relationships Education) is taught in schools.

Yusuf Patel, the founder of SREIslamic, was the sole representative of the Muslim community to give evidence at the Education Committee’s inquiry into SRE in 2014.
